3 Model Tiers
Matched to Home Size
All Non-Electric
Three models covering homes from 1 bathroom to 5+.
1–3 bathrooms. The most compact Kinetico. Fits under a standard kitchen sink. Block salt. Ideal for flats, terraces, and smaller semis.
3–4 bathrooms. Higher daily capacity and faster flow rate. Same footprint as the Compact but taller. The most popular model for UK family homes.
4+ bathrooms or very hard water (300ppm+). Largest capacity in the range. Often installed in a utility room or garage. Handles heavy daily use without regenerating mid-peak.
Six things your installer will weigh up — and what to think about before they arrive.
The biggest single factor. A 4-bathroom home running parallel morning showers will outpace a Compact, even with a small household. Bathroom count drives peak demand, not just total demand.
Higher hardness (300ppm+) means the resin bed depletes faster and the unit regenerates more often. Very hard areas often justify sizing up — you get longer between regenerations and less salt overall.
Two adults in a 4-bathroom home use less water than five teenagers in a 3-bathroom home. Headcount matters as much as bathroom count, especially for daily peak flow.
Under-sink fits restrict you to a Compact. A utility room, garage, or airing cupboard opens up the Premier or Maxi. Measure your intended spot before booking the quote — including door clearance for delivery.
Planning a loft conversion, extension, or growing family? Size up now. The price gap at purchase is small. The cost of replacing the wrong unit two years in is not.
Block salt is cleaner to handle and stores tidily. Tablet salt is cheaper per kg but bulkier. The Compact uses block salt; the larger units give you more flexibility on format.
In practice most UK homes land on the Premier — it covers 3 to 4 bathrooms comfortably and is the model installers fit most often. The Compact wins for flats and smaller terraces. The Maxi is the right call for larger homes, very hard water, or anywhere you want a generous safety margin. Your free quote will include an installer recommendation based on your postcode and household, so you do not have to make the call alone.

Choosing between Kinetico models.
Your installer will recommend based on your number of bathrooms, household size, and local water hardness. As a rule of thumb: 1–3 bathrooms = Compact, 3–4 = Premier, 4+ = Maxi.
Swapping to a larger model means a new unit and potentially new pipework. It is much cheaper to size correctly the first time. If in doubt, go one size up.
Yes. The entire Premier range uses water-powered kinetic energy for regeneration. No timers, no plugs, no electricity cost.
In a 1 or 2 bathroom home, yes. In a 3-bathroom home with four daily users it is borderline, especially in hard water areas. Most installers will recommend stepping up to the Premier for that profile.
The Maxi has a larger resin bed and a higher flow rate, so it handles more bathrooms and peak demand without regenerating mid-shower. The Premier is the right pick for 3 to 4 bathrooms; the Maxi is sized for 4 to 5+ bathrooms or very hard water.
Salt use depends on water hardness, household size, and how often the unit regenerates, not just the model. As a rough guide expect 1 to 2 blocks per month per occupant. Your installer can give a tighter estimate once they know your local hardness.
