What affects the price you pay

Installation complexity

A straightforward kitchen install with the stop cock under the sink is a couple of hours. A Maxi going into a garage with a long pipe run is a longer job. Expect installation to add £200–£500 on top of the unit price.

Fitting kit and pipework

Most Authorised Dealers include a 22 mm fitting kit in the install price. Older homes on 15 mm or 28 mm pipework may need an adapter kit or partial re-pipe, adding cost.

Regional dealer pricing

Kinetico sells exclusively through Authorised Dealers, who set their own delivered prices. Quotes from two dealers covering your postcode can vary by £200–£400 for the same unit.

Running costs after install

Salt is around £11–£15 per month for a family of four (about 4 kg per person per month). No electricity cost — the unit is non-electric. Optional annual service is roughly £60–£120.

Verify before you buy: always get a written quote that itemises the unit, the fitting kit, installation labour, and any optional service plan. Prices on this page are 2026 RRPs from public sources and your dealer's delivered price may be higher or lower.

Kinetico pricing questions

What people ask about Kinetico costs.

Why is Kinetico more expensive than other brands?

You are paying for the non-electric twin-tank mechanism (fewer parts to fail), a 10-year warranty, and a 20–25 year expected lifespan. The total cost of ownership over the lifetime is often lower than cheaper units that need replacing sooner.

Is Kinetico worth the extra money?

For homes in very hard water areas where the softener will run daily for 20+ years, yes. The efficiency, reliability, and warranty justify the premium. For lighter use or if you might move within 5 years, a mid-range brand may offer better value.

Can I finance a Kinetico softener?

Some Kinetico dealers offer finance or monthly payment plans. Ask the installer in your quote. We do not arrange finance directly, but can match you with installers who offer it.

Are prices the same nationwide?

No. Kinetico sells through Authorised Dealers who set their own delivered prices. Quotes from two dealers in different areas can vary by £200–£400 for the same model. Getting two or three quotes is the easiest way to spot the real local price.

Is the fitting kit included in the price?

Most Authorised Dealers include a standard 22 mm fitting kit in the install price. If your home has 15 mm or 28 mm pipework, you may need a different kit. Always ask for an itemised written quote so you can see what is and is not included.

What about second-hand or refurbished Kinetico units?

These exist but come with no manufacturer warranty. Resin condition and valve wear are hard to assess without dismantling, so the saving rarely justifies the risk. If you want a Kinetico on a budget, look for end-of-line offers from dealers rather than used units.
